Pianist | The Jazz Pianist Fred Hersch To Perform At Hope College On February 21

Hope College Jazz field studies at Holland featured jazz pianist Fred Hersch and his trio on Monday, February 21.The performance of Nykerk Wichers Auditorium Music Hall, 127 E. 12th St., Began at 19:30 hours the public is invited and admission was free.

 The trio consists of Fred Hersch, piano; Tom Knific, bass and Keith Hall, drums. The Jazz Singer Taylor O 'Donnell was the guest star.
During his residency, Hersch also give private lessons at the college of jazz studies majors.Hersch is no stranger to the hope of the stage after performing at the college in 2004, 2005, 2009 and 2010.
"This is a very exciting report that Hope has developed this extraordinary talent," said Dr. Brian Coyle, director of jazz studies at Hope area, as well as a music teacher and chairman of the department of music.
Hersch 's many achievements include a 2003 Guggenheim Fellowship for composition and two Grammy nominations for best jazz instrumental performance and was nominated for a Grammy for best instrumental composition. He has appeared on over 100 recordings, including over two dozen albums as a conductor and solo pianist.
Hersch has acted as a passionate spokesman and fundraiser for AIDS services and education agencies since 1993. He directed and produced four recordings of performances and benefit concerts for many organizations to raise awareness about AIDS.
Hersch is currently visiting professor at Western Michigan University and is on jazz studies at the faculty of the New England Conservatory.
